The Agricultural Supply Company (ESA) of Santiago de Cuba, works this year to raise the quality and efficiency of its economic management, in order to influence and decisively contribute to the commitment of the Ministry of Agriculture (Minag) to increase the food production to meet the needs of the people.

Even when last year was a complex stage due to the intensification of the economic, financial and commercial blockade of the United States government against Cuba, its workers gave a firm response towards the materialization of a work of excellence, in correspondence with the President's call. of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, in being more efficient in the implementation of the approved measures to improve the management of the socialist state company.

In an interview with Elióver Zapata Hidalgo, general director of ESA, belonging to the Logistics Business Group of the Ministry of Agriculture (GELMA), it was learned that for this year there are many challenges, among them, continuing to consolidate the management model formulated Since 2014, providing an excellent service to all producers, since we exist because we count on them and we must achieve a greater approach in this 2020.

Likewise, he stressed that it is necessary to strengthen the way of contracting with producers, since we are the only logistics of the agriculture system; and in that sense, work to ensure that supplies arrive in a timely manner, since we have sometimes been delinquent with suppliers and this has led to delays in the delivery of materials.

Zapata Hidalgo pointed out that in the Santiago entity, four priorities will prevail in the stage, among them, directing from the governing documents, the contract and finances, since even the accounts receivable are high, as well as continuing to achieve maximum business efficiency fulfilling the plan of the economy of the year with favorable results.

In this sense, he stressed that in 2014 when GELMA's management system began to be implemented, the company only sold 50 million pesos; however, it reached last year with 150 million pesos, a considerable figure in which a growth linked to management, search for resources and satisfaction of producers can be seen, despite the serious limitations with lines of resources such as truck tires, batteries, electrodes, barbed wire, among other critical routes that have not always had financing and enough raw materials for suppliers to comply.

The Agricultural Supply Company (ESA) of Santiago de Cuba, holds the status of National Vanguard, which aspires to ratify in a complex stage of the Cuban economy, based on the improvement of marketing activity in the eastern region and consolidating the integration of the GELMA structures, a strategy that has allowed a better action from the wholesale point of view to ensure the supplies, equipment and services for the agricultural sector.

Our entity, said Eliover, has outstanding groups and outstanding workers, among these, the municipalities of Guamá and Segundo Frente, and the Laguna Blanca shopping center. The purpose is to continue getting closer to the producers and proof of this is that in intricate places such as Ocujal del Turquino and La Caoba, in Guamá and San Luis, respectively, there are subsedes that provide services, in addition to putting into practice other methods such as agricultural fairs .

"We will continue working on improving internal control, cadre policy, the role of the Base Business Unit (UEB) Comercializadora de Santiago de Cuba, the contracting process and accounts receivable, as immediate goals that lead management, thought , incentives and creativity that guarantee our company solid and with true sovereignty ”, finally said the director general of ESA Santiago de Cuba, of GELMA.
