Like a highway, our highway, the Private Data Network (RPD) of the Information and Communications Company of the Ministry of Agriculture (EICMA) offers new options for the state and business sector of the primary line of the Cuban economy: Agriculture .
Telematic services, whose support is based on the EICMA RPD, open new paths for traveling on various roads, all depending on the development and sustainability of the Agricultural, Forestry and Tobacco System.
According to Mr. Andrés Sosa Quevedo, director of Marketing and Development of EICMA, the RPD has allowed to control each one of the links. “This platform (the RPD) supports the computer applications that we have installed. All email from the Ministry of Agriculture and its business system runs there. In addition to navigating in the Cuba and worldwide network, audioconferencing systems run on our “highway”, and several OSDEs in the sector have already been implemented. ”
"Through this support, the videoconference service is also used, which is very useful for our ministry during the confrontation with the pandemic by COVID-19," emphasizes Sosa Qevedo.
The technological platform is of great importance as a basis for the computerization of processes, information management, data capture or the control and commercialization of resources; something obvious at a glance.
To understand more about its usefulness, it is enough to review its benefits during the pandemic stage that the country faced due to the SARVS-CoV-2 from which the Ministry of Agriculture did not escape.
Precisely through this platform, the EICMA RPD, the data processing, coordination or orientations that the System demanded were supported, and which made it possible to guarantee support for the production processes in supplies, personnel and specialized services.
Of course, the pandemic had an effect also for the company that, according to Sosa Quevedo, has not stopped working as agriculture has not stopped doing it.
"We kept working on all the applications, which today we have committed to schedule with the state and business systems of the Ministry. We have not given up on any of them and we are making efforts not to stop their advance. ”
Among the most recent results of the entity, outstanding for its impact on the contracting, planning, control and monitoring of productions, stands out the Comprehensive Agricultural Planning System (SIPA).
“Today SIPA is setting standards in the computerization of agriculture. Thanks to this application we can have the hiring of each producer, the destinations of that production and we are already moving towards municipal self-sufficiency, something in which the Agricultural System is immersed and a decision of the Country, "said the manager.
"This constitutes a step to development for the computerization of processes within the computerization of Agriculture," he stressed.
Another positive aspect in the digitization of the Agricultural, Forestry and Tobacco System is the promotion of public records of Agriculture. This is framed within the Country projection to offer better services to the citizen, but which in the case of Agriculture will allow better planning in terms of production, use of resources and arrival at the table of the final product.
"Progress has been made in this regard. The land registry, for example today accumulates more than 90% of the country's landholders. It also allows knowing the state of each parcel or land, what it is dedicated to, those who exploit it… It is useful information for the State ”.
Work is already underway to collect data from livestock registries, another of the TEN that make up this application designed by specialists from EICMA for Agriculture.
The knowledge-based alternatives are dissimilar, which from EICMA are designed, developed and implemented as ICT solutions for the Cuban farmer. Ecominag, another of them, recently concluded the capture of the financial statements of the budgeted area belonging to the Minag.
Likewise, the Integral Inventory Viewer (VINA) is consolidated as a leading product for managing resource control in warehouses and shopping centers. "And so I could mention others: all products that are in our catalog and that today are in a state of consolidation or deployment both in the state and business sectors within the Agriculture System."
But most importantly: all systems designed for the farmer from an integrative vision. The most complete and comprehensive information possible, which of course travels through the EICMA RPD: the highway that sets the course for computerization in the field.
