Havana, Nov 5 (Prensa Latina) Until the end of October, the US blockade of Cuba caused losses this year to the UEB Servicios Ingenieros (ENPA) of the Ministry of Agriculture (Minag), amounting to about 16 million dollars, it became known today.
In an interview with Prensa Latina, the director of that Base Business Unit (UEB), Leónides Morales, also pointed out that due to this arbitrary and unfair measure, it has been impossible for them to access suppliers in order to modernize the technology.
This entity, whose purpose is the consulting, engineering and design fundamentally, and involved in the main programs of the development of Minag and also the country as a policy, has also been harmed in the non-acquisition of the specific inputs used, such as printers and other media.
We have been working under constant tension for the blockade, which prevents the modernization and completion of the information technology resources required to carry out our services and to give increasing response to the demands of foreign investment and other national development programs, Morales reiterates.
The restrictions also impede the acquisition of total stations, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and other equipment used by our services in surveying, which includes precision agriculture for the rice program.
According to the manager, the tensions and the constant siege that causes the blockade to the ENPA is because it is a high-tech company, with a high impact on the development of agriculture and the country.
In this regard, it exemplifies that they use software and the highest technologies used worldwide in engineering and design, hence the damage caused by the blockage by making it impossible to access its completeness and modernization, and the necessary inputs.
This company provides services to all the OSDE (Superior Business Management Bodies) of the agriculture system, which include the main production lines such as milk, meat, food, feed, rice and beans.
He also participates with his work in the development of irrigation, silos facilities, mini-industries and other necessary equipment.
As a result of the blockade, the transport sphere of this UEB, on which it depends largely on its characteristics, has been particularly hampered in the non-obtaining of parts and fuel.
