The VII International Meeting of Agroecology, Sustainable Agriculture and Cooperativism begins today in Artemisa (about 65 kilometers southwest of the capital), with the participation of more than 140 delegates from 26 countries.
This forum, sponsored by the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP), has the fundamental purpose of promoting the exchange of sustainable food production through agroecological practices.
According to its organizers, the event, which is based at the Niceto Pérez Integral Center, in Güira de Melena, includes tours through farms and cooperatives of Artemisa, Mayabeque and Havana, which will allow us to appreciate the advances in agroecology, sustainable agriculture and cooperativism.
The largest representations come from the United States and Puerto Rico, with 40 and 20 delegates, respectively, said ANAP International Relations sources.
According to the communicator of that organization, Ida Ruiz, all the institutions of this country related to agriculture are invited to the meeting.
In addition to visits to farms, the appointment includes the realization of the panel Agroecology, challenges and challenges for youth.
It also includes the inauguration of the exhibition Agroecology and food sovereignty. (tvsantiago)
