Havana manages to surpass all the productive plans, including exports and import substitution, and all its companies obtain positive economic balances during 2018 and so far this year, condition to deserve the headquarters of the final activities of the day by Agricultural Workers' Day, celebrated every October 3.

At the event, held at the Latin America Base Business Unit, of the Metropolitan Agricultural Company, were José Antonio Torres Iríbar, first secretary of the Party in the capital; Gustavo Rodríguez Rollero, Minister of Agriculture, and Ulises Rosales del Toro, head of the National Protein Plants Program.

They received the status of 50th anniversary of the Julián Mesa Agüero and Amalia Arana Álvarez sector; The province of Havana and the UEB Latin America received special awards for their outstanding work at the stage, and the Havana, Bacuranao and Metropolitan agricultural companies, as well as Agricultural and Agroforestry Supplies, both of the capital, were also encouraged.

Yanay Moreno Meneses, expressed the gratitude of the new generations working in agriculture for the possibilities of their professional achievement, and the commitment of young people to continue the work undertaken in a sector that dignifies and works to meet the vital needs of the population How are the food.

In the intervention of Ermeregildo Martínez Gámez, delegate of Agriculture of Havana, the planting of more than one thousand hectares of various crops stands out, in which the work of preparing land with animal traction was carried out; the commercialization of 82 thousand 172 tons of agricultural products to the different destinations so far this year, as well as the delivery of 3 million 417 thousand liters of milk.

He stressed that a group of workers in the capital continues to work in the recovery of the damage caused by the tornado and in the construction of houses, as well as in nine prioritized works of the sector.

He congratulated all the farmers in the country, who with their effort and dedication contribute to the fulfillment of food production, and with shipments of goods to the capital, especially those of Artemisa and Mayabeque.

When closing the event, Néstor Hernández Martínez, general secretary of the Union of Agricultural, Forestry and Tobacco Workers (SNTAFT) said that on October 3 he was elected to celebrate the day of farmers, to coincide with the signing of the Second Reform Law Agrarian He also highlighted the trajectory of the young Marcos Martí, assailant at the Moncada barracks, vilely murdered at age 19, and said that in his example the farmers who welcome him as their leader are inspired.

In all business groups, companies and groups, events were held to celebrate the date and stimulate the most prominent, including fifties and women and men with 20 and 25 years in the sector, who were awarded the Marcos Martí distinction.
